A military-like structure is in place in the family. The oldest wife, Zathiangi, schedules her fellow wives to do the household chores which include cleaning, washing and doing the meals. In one evening, they can de-feather 30 chickens, peel 132lb of potatoes cook up to 220 lb of rice.

Mr. Chana is the head of a sect that permits its members to have as many wives as they want.  He says that his sect, which has 4,00 members, permits him to look for new wives and so far he has not stopped: ‘To expand my sect, I am willing to go even to the U.S. to marry,’ he said.   Mr. Chana keeps the youngest wives near to his bedroom and the older ones sleep further on. A rotation system is in place for the performance of his manly duties.

According to Rinkmini, one of his wives who is 35 years old: ‘We stay around him as he is the most important person in the house. He is the most handsome person in the village”. The family’s organisation is reputedly based on ‘mutual love and respect’.
