Germany denies America drug for killing its citizens

[Tom Hopper, US News Contributor]

Spiegel Online International: With more than 3000 American death row inmates in the 34 US states that  employ the death penalty not-so-eagerly awaiting their killing by lethal injection, America is running out of the lethal injection drugs to despatch the prisoners as US firms stop producing the deadly drug.

America’s desperate attempts to import the drugs though are not proving to be successful as country after country is refusing to supply the deadly drugs. The latest slap in the face for US executioners was from Germany which point-blank refused to supply the drug. Recently, India, UK and Denmark have done the same.

As a result, many executions have had to be delayed and the US is currently considering the employment of more primitive methods to cull its waiting list for executions.

Not a good time to be on death row in the USA it would seem. Perhaps the USA should be looking to get the lethal drugs from countries more amenable to killing their citizens which include Libya, China, Syria, Yemen, DRC as it is unlikely then that it would face any opposition for the importation of the necessary drugs.

In America, offences that carry the death penalty include:

  • Treason
  • Use of weapon of mass destruction resulting in death
  • Espionage, terrorism, certain violations of the Geneva Conventions that result in the death of one or more persons,
  • Aggravated rape in Louisiana, Florida and Oklahoma;
  • Extortionate kidnapping in Oklahoma;
  • Aggravated kidnapping in Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky and South Carolina;
  • Robbery and and aircraft hijacking in Alabama;
  • Drug trafficking resulting in a person’s death in Connecticut and Florida;
  • Train wrecking which leads to a person’s death and perjury which leads to a person’s death in California.

In addition, under the US Uniform Code of Military Justice, execution can be ordered for many more offences including: desertion, mutiny, spying, and misbehaviour before the enemy.

Many of those executed in the USA have received posthumous pardons.

Duchess of York tells Oprah Winfrey Show: “I felt pointless, worthless and disgusting”

Telegraph: Beautiful, but troubled ex-royal, Sarah Ferguson, in a ‘tell all’ session for the Oprah Winfrey Show which she is taking part in to raise cash to pay off her not too insignificant debts, said that recent events in her life, including the break-up with her husband, left her feeling: “..emotionally bankrupt…worthless..unlovable… and pointless”.

The shocked Oprah Winfrey Show audience listened intently as the Duchess went on to explain how she was left scarred by the treatment she received at the hands of her mother, Susan Barrantes (now deceased): “I looked in the mirror this morning and went…well, no wonder no one loves you – you are so disgusting.'”

The Duchess’ poignant revelations are part of a six-part documentary series for US version of the Opera Winfrey Show where she is shown in a therapy session. The show, named Finding Sarah, Prince Andrew’s former wife revealed that she suffered systemic abuse at the hands of her mother, who once called her ‘the anti-Christ’.

In the show, the Duchess proclaims her love for her children and  and also her deepest affection for her ex-husband, the Duke of York, who she said has always been a true friend.

The show is attracting good viewings in the USA.

As your lifelong fan,  I wish you, Sarah, the very  best of luck.  You are beautiful, definitely not disgusting, or pointless, unlike some of the other royals whose names escape me for the moment. Best wishes for the show!

“Outbreak” – you saw the movie, but now the reality is here as mutant e.coli superbugs ravage Germany and kills 11 people in the UK whilst spreading to the USA

[Selma Tahovsky
Health News Contributor]

According to a recent MailOnline report, a new, ultra-toxic and drug-resistant E.Coli strain is now causing serious concern by health officials in the US and UK and at least nine other European countries, thus threatening to become an international epidemic of epic proportions.

Following eleven reported infections in the UK, British supermarkets have been warned against selling any German food, although several larger chains like Lidl and Tesco have announced that they will still sell the food, though in small quantities.

Medics are warning the public that the bug is likely to be spreading not only through raw vegetables, but also through personal contact and poor hygiene.  In the meantime, Russia has banned food imports from Germany and along with severe losses from damage to its food industry as a result of the outbreak which is ravaging the country, Germany is likely to face Spanish farmers’ lawsuit for close to two hundred million British pounds in compensation for Germany’s widespread (which have proved now to be mistaken) allegations about the bacteria coming from Spanish food imports.

American consumers in trouble as US judges begin to imprison debt defaulters

[Tom Goldwater, Finance & Economy Contributor]

The Wall Street Journal:  In more than a third of American states now if you don’t pay your debts,  courts can imprison you.  In the UK, only local authorities have that privilege thus far as Britons can be imprisoned for failing to pay their council taxes.However, with British debt defaults increasing on a daily basis in the current severe economic times, it is likely that soon the country will follow American states providing for debtors to be jailed for non-payment of their debts.

Since 2010, The Wall Street Journal reports, over 5,000 warrants have been issued by US judges over nine counties against debtors. Furthermore, according to the Star-Tribune: “In Illinois and southwest Indiana, some judges jail debtors for missing court-ordered debt payments. In extreme cases people stay in jail until they raise a minimum payment….In January, a judge sentenced a Kenney, Illinois, man to ‘indefinite incarceration’ until he came up with $300 towards a lumber yard debt.”

The Star-Tribune reported that the man was a rooftop worker who had snapped his neck and back on the job and was off work due to his severe injuries and as a result could not pay debt was jailed for non-payment of the debt. His wife had to borrow the $300 from her credit card to get him out of jail.

Although in the USA, debtor prisons were outlawed in the 19th century, judges do not appear to be deterred from jailing debtors who fail to pay their debts and regulatory authorities are not intervening.

US Patriot Act extended to 2015 and gives government direct access to 300 million mobiles

[Boris Karliss, US News Contributor]

RT.com:  A buoyant President Obama and the US Congress successfully collaborated to continue America’s controversial ‘war on terror‘ with the extension of the US Patriot Act until 2015.  This means that the police and secret service will have blanket authority to spy on all Americans, whether they are involved in terror activities or not, for four more years when the Act is likely to be extended again.

Compulsory Internal Digital Examinations for Travellers

This event coupled with rumours abounding of a move by the US government to authorise internal digital examination for all travellers through US airports, US human rights activists are saying that the wide range of spying methods authorised to be employed against law-abiding citizens are being used by the Obama administration as fear tools for political advantage.

US Governments Latest Spy Tool Against Americans

With the collaboration of the major US wireless operators, the US government now has achieved a direct link to each and every hand held device in the USA. This will enable it with an alert system whereby the president and government agencies can send direct messages to each American with a handheld device warning of terror threats, weather disasters, etc. As this is just the start of the scheme many are fearing that it will soon become far more intrusive.

The system is due to become operative by the end of the year and will be fully nationwide by the middle of 2012.

In breach of UN resolution forbidding ground support in Libya, CIA and British secret service agents fight Gadaffi with rebels

[TRIPOLI:  Capt. Ahmed Akabu, Military News Contributor]

As far back as March 30th 2011, the National Journal had reported that following the green light from the White House for the US’s direct ‘prejudicial engagement’ on the ground with the Libyan regime in aid of the rebels, CIA and British secret (and not so secret, from  recent accounts), operatives have been on the ground fighting with the rebels to overthrow the intrenchant and wily  Libyan dictator, Col. Muammar-el-Qaddafi.

According the National Journal’s report in March, more than 12 covert operatives were active in Libya working on the ground with the rebels to overthrow Qaddafi.  Also on the ground at that time were many Special Air Service commandoes and M16 agents.

Guardian: Today video footage from Al Jazeera confirms sightings of foreign armed operatives openly interacting with rebel forces on the ground. This kind of intrervention, of course,  is in contravention of the UN resolution which specifically forbids this kind of enagement by foreign military operatives, but who cares anyway. Isn’t it the same UN whose 30 or so resoultions have been openly thrown out by the Jews vis a vis the Palestinian issue? So Libya is in for some interesting times it would seem.

However, Libyans rebel forces are becoming increasingly worried that the problem with foreign troops on the ground is that as they do not take directions, or orders from local forces, they become in due course, nothing less than an occupation force which then has the potential to create the same problems as for Viet Nam, Iraq and Afganistan in terms of world and local perception of their presence.

Twitter forced by California court to hand over personal details and tweets of politician accused of libel by British group

[Jonas Surrey, Legal Affairs Contributor]

MailOnline: The social networking site, Twitter, which has more than 175 million users, has been forced by a California court to give up the personal information tweets of a British politician, Ahmed Khan, after a British local authority started an international court case complaining of libel perpetrated by the politician.  The judgment by the California court has started off a huge row in the USA concerning privacy and freedom of speech.

The local authority, South Tyneside Council, is reported to have spent more than £100,000 on the case which intends to bring to justice the author of a blog who goes by the name of Mr. Monkey, which is believed to be the blog of Mr. Khan.

Mr. Khan has refuted the allegations and is reported to be angry with Twitter for having disclosed his details. MailOnline reports him as saying: “This is Orwellian. It is like something out of 1984..if  a council can take this kind of action against one of its own councillors simply because they don’t like what I say, what hope is there for freedom of speech or privacy…I was never even told they were taking this case to court in California. The first I heard was when Twitter contacted me…I had just 14 days to defend the case and I was expected to fly 6,000 miles to hire my own lawyer – all at my expense”.

[Petra Jones, Celebrities Contributor]

Popular TV presenter, Ben Douglas, was at a BAFTA event last week at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, where he had been invited to attend the awards.

Apparently, after spotting him with his white companion, James Brown, an Irish celebrity hairdresser and friend of the model Kate Moss, accused Mr. Douglas’s companion of being a ‘nigger‘s bitch’ and then went on to call Mr. Douglas ‘nigger’, not less than 7 times.

A shocked Mr. Douglas confronted Mr. Brown who did not apologise, but repeated the insults.

No one at the party came to the support of Mr. Douglas who remains hurt and shocked by the incident.
