European Union’s own public expenditure goes up by a staggering 5% in 2012 whilst it orders member states to put theirs in reverse

[Tammy Jones, UK Financial News Contributor]

In a gesture, breathtaking by its sheer slime-oozing texture, MailOnline reports that UK Tax Minister, George Osborne, joined the ranks of the EU slithering elite which are bringing the economy of Britain to a shuddering halt, by pronouncing that the government’s austerity measures imposed by the IMF and the EU in return for the country’s bailout loans are: ‘essential’ for Britain’s recovery.

The Tax Minister’s pronouncement spawns from the emptiness of the IMF and EU’s failure to produce any model for austerity measures (which essentially entail a dramatic cessation in public spending) ever bringing back any country in Europe from ruin to prosperity, coupled with the PIGS countries clear inability to not only sustain any kind of prolonged public expenditure cuts, but now clearly to pay back their bailouts.

And in a dramatic failure to lead from the front on public expenditure cuts, whilst the EU Commissioners are so busy championing ‘austerity measures’ to member states, they are in shopping mode with member states’ taxpayer’s contributions as the EU’s own public spending/ administration costs are set to go up by 5% in 2012.

As such, the clear-cut strategy for the EU Commissioners seems to be:-

a) transfer public spending from member states to the EU (which has never been audited)
b) EU Commissioners will then control and eventually dominate all member states
c) member states, via economic and political union, become ‘prefectures’/ ‘regions’ of the European Union.

Syrian security officials destroy penis of thirteen year old boy demonstrator and kill him

[Abdul Goldstein, Middle East and African Contributor]

MailOnline Syria’s officials are going all out on the people power demonstrators as shown up by the recent horrific execution of thirteen-year-old Hamza Ali al-Khateeb, which had involved Syrian security forces acting under the orders of the country’s beseiged president, Bashar al-Assad, to destroy the boys penis.

The child had been picked up by Syrian officials in Jiza, a village in Dar’a province of Syria, around a month ago and later on his body punctured like sieve and minus his penis, was returned to his anguished parents. His knees has been destroyed and his  neck broken also.

The family was warned by Syrian police against talking too much, but apparently not enough to persuade them to go along with the unspeakable act of cruelty out of fear of being hurt. As a result, the father has been arrested and might probably be facing the same fate as his son.

The news of the boy that shocked the world was posted on YouTube, apparently by a family member, as after the rebellion against the president which in fact had turned into a civil war, Syria was shut to the members of  the international press.

However, it seems that instead of daunting the rebels, the murder has inspired a wave of fierce protests against the injustice of the current regime. According to expatriated human rights activist Radwan Ziadeh and as reported by the Washington Post, the child has already become one of the most powerful symbols of the revolt.

‘(His death) is the sign of the sadism of the Assad regime and its security forces,’  Radwan said.

British government secretly training Saudi and Bahrani forces to quell people power uprisings

f
Guardian: International human rights groups and British activists have been shocked by revelations by the British government that, whilst supporting people power uprisings in Libya and Egypt, its military has been secretly training Saudi Arabia‘s national guard  in public order enforcement techniques which had been used when they were assigned to quell the recent people power protests in Bahrain.

In the recent uprisings in Bahrain, the Bahraini royal family used more than 1,200 British-trained Saudi troops to assist in demolishing the demonstrations which they did brutally by all accounts killing more than 100 protestors and seriously injuring many more. The UK Ministry of Defence report, out yesterday, confirmed that Britain despatches around 20 training teams to Saudi Arabia each year which the Saudis pay for.

Nicholas Gilby of the Campaign Against Arms Trade said: Britain’s important role in training the Saudi Arabian national guard in internal security over many years has enabled them to develop tactics to help suppress the popular uprising in Bahrain.”

In acknowledgement of Britain’s training role in supporting the undemocratic Bahrain and Saudi regimes, Defence minister Nick Harvey said to the British parliament last week: “It is possible that some members of the Saudi Arabian national guard which were deployed in Bahrain may have undertaken some training provided by the British military mission.”..

Earthquake of magnitude 5.9 shakes Fukushima region on May 24th 2011

[Sumi Aleksander, Japan News Contributor]

USGS: On Tuesday 24th May 2011, an earthquake of 5.9 magnitude struck the Honshu region which encapsulates the troubled Fukushima nuclear plant. No tsunami, or damage reports have been made.

The Honshu region is a notoriously unstable part of Japan and practically each day earthquakes at M4 to 6 strike the area.

An anonymous source at the UN has disclosed that it is looking into the Fukushima plant disaster to decide whether Japan was negligent in building the a nuclear plant in such an unstable part of the country and in that respect whether it should be made to compensate all countries that are now affected from serious radioactive contamination from the nuclear disaster that struck the plant.

More women come out with sex charges against horny IMF chief Straus-Kahn who is now on suicide watch in a New York prison

[Samantha Templeton-Brewster, Celebrities Contributor]

MailOnline: It seems that sheer hell has decended upon the apparently sex-crazed ‘rutting chimpanzee’, AKA the unfortunate IMF chief, Dominique Straus Kahn,  following his imprisonment on charges of forced anal and oral sex upon a black Sofitel Hotel chambermaid in New York.

That is because the bandwagon of his abusees is getting bigger at a fast past as an increasing number of women are coming forward with allegations that he had forced himself upon them in a number of sexually inappropriate ways in the past.  However, no matter how different the individual cases are, the underlying thing message is clear- the IMF chief ‘has a problem’ with curbing his incandescent sexual desire.

His Twitter-like following of abusees now include the French Socialist party deputy Aurelie Filipetti, who reportedly had been salaciously ‘groped’ by Straus-Kahn; a journalist who did not want to mention her full name but who  reportedly had been offered sex in exchange for an exclusive  interview with the rampant IMF chief;  a Mexican chambermaid at the Sofitel who is claiming to have been sexually assaulted too along with her New York colleague whose allegations resulted in the IMF’s chief ending up in a prison cell and who’s DNA samples have matched up with those found on Strauss Kahn.

Moreover, rumours  are resurfacing that the sexually insatiable  IMF chief used to frequently visit a high-profile Paris swinger’s club Les Chandelles, which offers its clients to freely swap partners and  realize  any sexual fantasies imaginable with unknown males and females in darkened rooms.  It seems that his rough handling of many that he met there will be likely to erupt into another barrage of claims against the embattled Frenchman.

To cap it all, according to the words of the French  television  producer and host  Thierry Ardisson, who reportedly has known Mr. Kahn for quite a while, ‘Everyone knew about it. I have 14 women pals who have told me: “He tried to jump me.” I think that guy has an illness: you can enjoy s*******, but not to that point. He needs therapy.’

Well, Strauss Kahn is certainly likely to get therapy for his illness in a New York prison where inmates offer a special kind of therapy for sex offenders.

Breaking News: Fukushima Nuclear Facility, an act of international terror by Japan

[Daisy Chung, Human Rights Contributor]

It seems from the conclusions of analyst, Paul Watson, that the Fukushima nuclear plant construction equates to nothing less than an act of terror by the Japanese government.

That is because even before the nuclear plant was constructed at Fukushima, earthquakes had been striking the Honshu region, which encapsulates Fukushima, on a daily basis – some more severe than others. Therefore, the Japanese government which had been motivated by commercial greed, would have known that it was highly predictable that a disaster of the kind that struck the facility recently, due to seismic activity, was just a matter of time.

Despite knowledge of this highly likely disaster, no contingency plans had been made for this by the Japanese government to protect its citizens in such an event. Furthermore, in particular, it had known, even before constructing the plant that the nuclear reactor design was known to be susceptible to fracture and leakages under stress.

Today, the situation is far worse for the world and the Japanese people than it was at the start of the eventTEPCO now admits that the areas surrounding the Fukushima prefecture – up to 100 miles away, are severely contaminated. As a result, villages and towns are being evacuated and livestock is being culled on a daily basis.

Drinking water in cities as far away as Tokyo, now have radioactive contamination far above the safe limit and there is concern by international organisations that the radioactive pollution in the atmosphere in all of Japan now poses a serious risk for the health of the Japanese.  Additionally, the Pacific ocean facing the plant is now dangerously contaminated and the reactors in spiralling meltdown.   The international scale of Japan’s irresponsibility has been reflected in the radioactive contamination from the disaster  spreading beyond its shores to the USA, UK and most of Europe where risk-level radioactive substances from the plant have been found in milk and livestock.

However, despite it having no plan to contain the problem, the Japanese government has not been forthcoming in admitting the extent of the catastrophe and in fact has been working actively with media organisations to downplay the true scale of the horror it has perpetrated.

Japan, by its colossal act of horror brought about by its commercial greed, has perpetrated an act of pure evil upon its citizens  equivalent to that inflicted upon their people by the regimes in Africa and the Middle East, now under ‘people power’ uprisings which have international support.

It seems clear that Japan should be now brought to account by the UN for having inflicted this deliberate and unlawful risk deliberately upon its citizens and for endangering the world by its act of criminal terror in the construction of the nuclear plant in Fukushima despite the known and predictable risks of the disaster that struck the plant which has affected not only the Japanese, but the entire world.

Shocking beheading of British woman in Tenerife

[European Crime News Contributor, Vicky Brown]

BBC News:  Residents of the popular British resort of Tenerife are in a state of shock following the brutal beheading of a woman British tourist today in a supermarket.  A Bulgarian man (updated to ‘Romanian’ – 16 5 2011) thought to be responsible has been arrested in the town of Los Cristianos.
d
Eyewitnesses told BBC News that  the alleged perpetrator entered the Chinese supermarket in a well-frequented shopping centre on the island and then proceeded to stab and behead the 62-year-old British woman.  He then took the woman’s head and paraded it outside the centre until he was tackled by a security guard who wrestled him to the ground where he was held until the police came.
w
The attack is believed to be a random one as the woman appears to have had no previous connection with her beheader who the police do not believe to be connected to, Al’Qaeda, or Islam.  However, the police say the arrested man has a crime record.

“We will hunt you down and kill you wherever you are”, President Obama authorises international death squads

[Kim Treadweather, Political Contributor]

BBC:  President Obama, in his defence of  his assassination of Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan recently, has sent a clear message to those who cause trouble for the USA, their associates and those perceived to be connected with them: “Wherever you are, we will hunt you down and kill you”.

The president’s message effectively legalises the USA’s right to perpetrate extra-judicial killings on foreign soil. In particular, having declared that ‘justice has been done’, upon hearing the news of  Bin Laden’s assassination by Navy SEALS in Pakistan, the president had commented that the execution had been: “Within the bounds of our customs and traditions”.

Although, the death of the man who had been widely held to have been the architect of the the 11 September 2001 attacks on the USA which killed around 3000 people, was welcome news for most worldwide, questions are starting to emerge about the legality of the assassination.

BBC World Service said that according to Benjamin Ferencz, an ex Nuremburg trials prosecutor: “The issue here is whether what was done was an act of legitimate self-defence.. it would have been better to capture Bin Laden and send him to a court….killing a captive who poses no immediate threat is a crime under military law as well as all other law….”.  Adding to this, British law professor, Phillipe Sands QC told the BBC:  “As a matter of international law, one country is not free to enter another country apparently without the authorisation of that country, and intervene, whether to kidnap or kill a national of a third state”.

This concern has also been tabled by the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Christof Heyns as well as the special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, Martin Scheinin. They said:-

“In certain exceptional cases, use of deadly force may be permissible as a measure of last resort… including in operations against terrorists …however, the norm should be that terrorists be dealt with as criminals, through legal processes of arrest, trial and judicially decided punishment …actions taken by states in combating terrorism, especially in high profile cases, set precedents for the way in which the right to life will be treated in future instances”.

Following from this, international law analysts are saying that if the USA situation is recognised as legal, there is nothing to stop other countries, with total impunity, as in the case of Bin Laden’s assassination by the USA, authorising their own death squads to hunt down and kill in foreign countries those they perceive to be their enemies, or who have committed acts of terror, or those who are perceived to be assisting them.

That, they say will create a world whereby the rights of  all for criminal justice before a court, will disappear entirely and encourage regimes to summarily dispose of anyone perceived to be a threat to them, or their interests.

In that regard, it is important, they are saying, that the USA is made to account before an international tribunal for its assassination of Bin Laden, who by all accounts was unarmed man and had offered no resistance to the SEALS who had killed him and who had subsequently disposed of his body without the order of any court, effectively preventing a post-mortem examination as to the circumstances of his death.

UK Muslims angry over death of Bin Laden

[Joan Tollings, Politics Contributor]

UK MailOnline: The US Embassy  in London was in uproar yesterday as hundreds of  Muslim activists surrounded the buildings in theatrical mourning of the Al’ Qaeda leader’s death. Placards and slogans like ‘Islam will dominate the world’ were abound and direct terrorist attack threats to the US were voiced.

The central figure in the mass protest action was a scandalous priest Anjem Choudary, a former (now dismissed) UK solicitor and a fierce supporter of the Islamic movement in the United Kingdom, who has publicly announced his approval of the September 11 attacks and July 7 London bombings.

The capital is on full alert now, as protestors’ are threatening that it is only a matter of time’ before a new terrorist attack takes place and that the ‘West is the enemy’.

Obama in trouble with ‘deathers’ as controversy abounds over the death of Bin Laden

[Joan Tollings, Politics Contributor]

According to BBC News, it seems that since the announcement of the death of the Al’Quaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, Pakistani police has not had a lot to do as there have been few protests and demonstrations. However, all is not that well, as negative opinions about the assassination have widely been voiced within the country as well as outward threats have come from the most radical Muslim ranks.

Many Pakistanis believe the whole operation was just a cunning move in order to rubbish Pakistan’s image worldwide. “We don’t know whether Osama was there – we never saw their bodies or the bodies of the others killed in the attack,” said during the interview Shaista Bukhari, a Pakistani housewife, and by far she is not the only one thinking along these lines.  While ordinary Pakistanis are voicing disbelief in the authenticity of the story, some radical Muslims have expressed outward anger with the US.  Mohammad Younis, a young Taliban member who has fought in Ghazni, Helmand and Kandahar, says Bin Laden was ‘like my father. We will make all those responsible for his death pay – in Afghanistan and across the world’. In the meantime, the prime minister of Britain James Cameron has warned the country of the necessity to ‘stay more vigilant than ever‘.

The journalist, Paul Craig Roberts in ‘Osama Bin Laden’s Useful Death’  published in Rense.com yesterday, comments that the Obama administration’s publication of the death of Osama Bin Laden is a: “..propaganda piece reeking of US Triumphalism”. That is because, he says, the two alleged journalists, Adam Goldman and Chris Brummitt of the Associated Press had originally published a White House or CIA press release saying that: “Osama bin Laden, the terror mastermind killed by Navy SEALs in an intense firefight, was hunted down based on information first gleaned years ago (emphasis added) from detainees at secret CIA prison sites in Eastern Europe, officials disclosed on Monday.”  However, the ‘firefight’ part has now been debunked also the ‘detainees information’ part. He considers this to be suspect.

Mr. Roberts claims that this report was meant to justify CIA prisons and torture as the implications are that without secret prisons and torture “the terror mastermind” would still be running free, despite via widely accepted reports that he had died from renal failure in 2001.

He comments: “…. how many Americans will have the wits to wonder why the “terror mastermind” who defeated not merely the CIA and the FBI, but all 16 US intelligence agencies along with Israel’s Mossad and the intelligence services of NATO, who defeated NORAD, the National Security Council, the Pentagon and Joint Chiefs of Staff, the US Air Force, and Air Traffic Control, who caused security procedures to fail four times in US airports in one hour on the same day, who caused the state-of-the-art Pentagon air defenses to fail, and who managed to fly three airliners into three buildings with pilots who did not know how to fly has not pulled off any other attack in almost ten years? Do Americans really believe that a government’s security system that can so totally fail when confronted with a few Saudi Arabians with box cutters can renew itself to perfection overnight?”

Mr. Roberts’ view is that as the Guardian and European newspapers have now confirmed that the photo of the dead Bin Laden is a fake and as the alleged body has been buried at sea according to the word of the US government, which had lied to the American people about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, about Iranian nuclear bombs, the US administration simply cannot be believed on the matter.

He says that the logical interpretation of the faked bin Laden death was that Mr. Obama needed  good excuse to bring the Afghan war to an official end in order to address the problems with the huge US budget deficit and also his lagging popularity. It also justifies the utilisation of the US’s rendition and secret prisons/ Gitmo program as well as giving all Americans (which it certainly has) a feeling of ‘payback’ for the 911 attack.

My own view is that on the balance of evidence available, the ‘deathers’ have it. But even if they are right, Americans had deserved some rest from the bogeyman-like story of Bin Laden and in that regard, Mr. Obama, I think, was courageous to attempt to bring closure to this issue which had started before him and which had committed the USA to battles on foreign soil which has so far cost each American taxpayers thousands of dollars to fund and the loss of lives of American service personnel.
