Ohio passes ‘anti-union’ bill

Huffington Post: The Governor of Ohio, John Kasich, last week signed into law the state’s first overt ‘anti-union‘ bill.

The new law limits the rights of unions for collective bargaining. More than 350,000 public sector workers are affected. A similar bill has been passed into law in Wisconsin.

The Ohio law stops unions from bargaining for wages, but excepts health care, sick time or pension benefits. It  gets rid of automatic pay increases and outlaws strkes. Whereas the Wisonsin bill excluded teachers, nurses and several other government workers including the police and fire services, the Ohio measure included them.
